Nick Winston

Nick Winston is an award-winning director and choreographer whose work spans the West End, international stages, film and television. His West End credits include Don Black’s From the Heart, Your Lie in April, Bonnie & Clyde (WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Musical), Chess in Concert, Annie and the Olivier Award-nominated Loserville.

Other productions as director and choreographer include Young Frankenstein (Hope Mill Theatre; WhatsOnStage Award for Best Studio Production), We Will Rock You (World Tour; Naledi Award for Best Musical Production), Chess (Tokyo; Outstanding Choreography Award), and the national tours of The Wedding Singer, Fame, Rock of Ages, Club Tropicana, Calamity Jane and Shrek. He also wrote, directed and choreographed 10: Champions Reignited.

As a choreographer and movement director, his credits include A Moon for the Misbegotten and The Shaughraun (Druid Theatre), Waiting for Godot (Druid Theatre; US Tour; Lincoln Center, New York), Kiss Me, Kate (Théâtre du Châtelet), The Adventures of Pinocchio (Sadler’s Wells; Minnesota Opera), Il Turco in Italia (Garsington Opera), and Sweeney Todd (Royal Danish Opera; Royal Exchange, Manchester).

His acclaimed production of Bonnie & Clyde at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, starring Jeremy Jordan, was released internationally in cinemas and on streaming platforms. His feature film debut, Tomorrow Morning, starring Samantha Barks and Ramin Karimloo, is available on Amazon.

Television credits include The Royal Variety Performance for ITV, Shakespeare Live! From the RSC (BAFTA nomination), Sondheim at 80, Miranda: My Such Fun Celebration and Netflix’s The Diplomat.

Nick is the author of the children’s picture book The Worst Elf Ever!, which he adapted into a family musical with composer Jack McManus. Together, they also wrote Santa’s Kitchen, with both musicals produced by Wise Owl Theatre Company. His other original work includes Before You Leave, written with Sepp Osley.
